Chilliness, obesity and sorrowful mood are the three features most characteristic of people of the type of Graphites. These are elderly, listless people, timid, lazy and inattentive, suffering from gluttony, constipation and sensation of “inner cold”.

Clinically, they combine the traits of two constitutional types – Calcarea and Sulphur, from which they derive, respectively, the metabolic and the dermatological disorders displayed by them. Their skin is covered by fissures and crusts and diffuse, eczematous rash; the nails are thickened and cracked. Like the people of Alumina type, they complain of the sensation of a cobweb spread over their face; music and noise enhance their hearing and concentration.

Graphites is highly effective in the treatment of skin diseases and problems of the anal canal, and is used for resolving scars and postoperative peritoneal adhesion.
